Waterbury, CT

A joint interview with Erica Cooper of Uplifting a Life program for Black and Brown Youth in Waterbury, CT and Maybeth Morales Davis of the Waterbury Housing Authority and Uplifting a Life. Erica shares how the killing of her brother motivated her to work on ending violence and supporting youth of color in having their voices heard and gaining vital leadership skills. Erica and Maybeth speak on the challenges and exhaustion of being people of color trying to change white power structures in schools and society so that their communities can thrive.

At Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury, our mission is to revitalize the community. One way we do this is working with residents to become leaders and champions of their neighborhoods. We work with them in leadership skills, community work and more. We work with residents to create projects that will impact thieir neighborhoods.

Empowering our community is at the heart of our work.
